Sustainable Agriculture

The Government of Ethiopia aims at achieving middle-income status by 2025 through building a green economy with carbon neutral growth. This aim is integrated in the national development plan, the Growth and Transformation Plan II (GTPII) 2015-20, and emphasises the pivotal role of agriculture in bringing Ethiopia to middle-income status. Denmark supports the implementation of the GTPII and the development and promotion of climate smart practices in agricultural production and value chains with the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), as well as the implementation of programmes and projects that focuses on both adaptation and mitigation of climate change challenges through the Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) Facility. The Danish engagement also includes projects to improve agricultural resilience and food security.

Furthermore, Denmark supports a twinning project between the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (AACCSA) and the Danish Confederation of Industry (DI) with the aim of improving the business environment in Ethiopia for the benefit of the private sector in general and the manufacturing sector in particular.
