Bilateral Cooperation
The Embassy’s bilateral engagement in Ethiopia focuses on political dialogue, development cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
The Danish development projects in Ethiopia support four main areas: 1. Modernization of the agricultural sector through commercialization of smallholder farmers; 2. Promote food security and resilience including for displaced people and host communities; 3. Support climate resilient forest livelihoods; and 4. Support governance and human rights, including free media.
The cooperation further aims to promote women and youth empowerment, gender equality and to protect women and girls from violence, ensuring their participation in the development process and enabling them to benefit equally from the outcomes of development. This comes alongside Denmark’s substantial humanitarian support to the millions of Ethiopians affected by conflict and crises. A central element in the cooperation is dialogue on the developmental and societal trajectory taken by Ethiopia, which happens through the Development Partners Group (DPG).
